Shows complex patterns of tropical lowland rainforest tending to monsoon forest (semi-deciduous mesophyll/notophyll vine forest) scattered throughout savanna (layered eucalypt woodlands and tall open eucalypt forests) correlated with high and low fertility soils respectively, allowing for attrition of the closed-canopied rainforest by fires.
