Workplace rehabilitation encourages an injured worker's early and safe return to work so that valuable work skills are not lost, facilitating recovery and minimising the human and financial costs of work injury for employers and WorkCover.
Workplace rehabilitation may involve treatment, a suitable duties program, on-the-job training to acquire new job skills or special assistance in case of severe injury.
An employer is legally obliged to take all reasonable steps to provide an injured worker with rehabilitation while he/she is being paid workers' compensation. Workers are legally obliged to participate in appropriate rehabilitation while receiving compensation.
For advice about rehabilitation, see WorkCover Qld Rehabilitation Information, contact your HR Adviser, or Workplace Health & Rehabilitation Coordinator
