Griffith Institute for Higher Education

The Griffith Institute for Higher Education (GIHE) is a premium provider of evidence-based professional development and resources for academic staff and a leader in higher education research.

The GIHE staff team works closely with academic colleagues and senior managers to address strategic priorities in learning and teaching across the University.

The GIHE has offices at the Mt Gravatt and Gold Coast campuses. We are organisationally located in the office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) and we work closely with the Pro Vice Chancellor (Learning and Student Outcomes). We are committed to collegial professional development and collaboration with academic staff across the University to achieve successful outcomes for student learning and academic practice.

Our mission is to:

  • Engage with academic colleagues through professional development and research activities focused on the student experience
  • Enable academic staff to develop high quality evidence-based curricula
  • Enhance the quality of academic programs and curriculum design including assessment
  • Provide collegial advice and collaborative support that equips academic staff to achieve high professional standards
  • Develop and implement key policies and supporting statements that influence the University's Academic Plan 3: Learning for Success

Registration is essential for all GIHE professional development events and staff are advised to register early to avoid disappointment. To register for any of the programs advertised, please respond to gihe-register@griffith.edu.au with your name, school and contact details.
